Description
We’ve all been there. We see something that inspires us and excites us, and we know we want to bring it to a canvas and bring it to life. Sometimes getting from that point to a finished work and doing this without copying what we see is undefined. Let’s define it! This class will help you to capture the vision with the emotional excitement that drives it while using expressive tools of thumbnail explorations and simplification to hone in on that one moment you want to paint. We’ll discover how to bring life and movement in the living landscape to your work so that it’s exciting, balanced, and says exactly what you want to say. The rhythm we will discover in this process will establish a strong concept, strong value changes, light/shadow, scale and focal point which will enable you to create strong work that best defines your original vision.
Landscape photos will be provided to work from but all students are encouraged to bring along a couple of personal photos they would like to work from on the last day (ones that excite you!).
The workshop will be instructed in acrylics and is open to everyone with a good understanding of color and technique already established. Each day will start with some instruction and then Holly will perform a demo in acrylic, followed by individual instruction and lots of exploration .
