Calgary artist, Victoria Zyluk, an exhibiting member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, formed a deep connection with the land while growing up on the family farm where she experienced the sights, scents and sounds of the natural world. She was destined to become a landscape painter with a passion for old buildings, each telling their unique tales. After University she became an Educator in several provinces, NW Territories in both Public and Separate School Systems teaching K – 8 Classes for almost 40 years. She shared her skills with children and adults with workshops, presentations at the Banff Centre to teaching professionals linking Art and Education as well as teaching Continuing Education courses. During this time, she also helped organize a fund-raising dinner and art auction for Education. Victoria has also served on arts councils and shows her work with several artist organizations Her work has been chosen for the Calgary Stampede Art Auction and has appeared in many galleries in and around Calgary. Travel experiences in Europe, North America, and to many islands as well as studying with many artists has expanded her techniques and subject matter. She describes her style as Intuitive Abstract Impressionism created with a variety of media including, watercolour, pen and ink, charcoal, pastels, oils, and is now reveling in the world of acrylics! She is constantly evolving, exploring and learning so that she may pass this on to others.
Victoria is currently Art Exhibition Coordinator for the Bow Valley Ranche Historical Society . “I am grateful to be part of preserving the history of our area as well as encouraging artists to exhibit their work in a historical setting.“
