Description
In this two day workshop we will explore how to create the illusion of light in painting. Light makes all the difference between producing a painting that it is easy to walk past as opposed to one that will stop viewers in their tracks!
It is as simple as seeing the right value and color relationships and then transferring them accurately to your canvas. Simple, but not easy….it takes some practice and concentration.
Day one, we will do an exercise on achieving correct value and color mixtures, and then follow that with a paint along to reinforce the morning’s lessons, and then students will work from references that they have brought and I will coach individually at the easel to help you get the light to read in your painting. If there is time, I will do a demo on day 2 as well.
I will be painting in oils and encourage students to as well.
