- Canadian artist Jeanette McClelland Brookes was
born in Calgary, Alberta.
- Jeanette was appointed with
Distinction to the Pastel Society of Canada in 1986 and in 1996 as a
"
Premiere Pastellist of Canada."
- 2000 - National P.S.C. Exhibition,
Jenkins Slowler Gallery, White Rock, B.C. - Portrait Demo and Workshop -
at The Gallery, White Rock, B.C.
- 1998 - The Marius Barbeau Museum - St.
Joseph de Beauce, Quebec,juried and appointed - "Honoring The
Eagle" Pastel, - with the Dakota - Art Suppliers - U.S.A. Award.

She was an honoured demonstrator in the International Show in Toronto at
Casa Loma - 1987, where she won the D.L. Stevenson Award.
- During the
Edgar Degas exhibition in Ottawa in 1988, the Society held an exhibition
in the National Archives Building adjoining the new National Art
Gallery. "Bearshield Blackfoot Warrior" was chosen for this
prestigious juried exhibition.

In 1989, Jeanette's work was chosen for the
Montreal Cultural Centre Show and the World International Pastel
Exhibition hosted by the Société des Pastellistes de France in the
historically renowned Compiegne. France. "Mystere de la griffe"
was one of 287 pieces from 27 countries. Jeanette was proud to attend
the exhibition, representing Canada and the Pastel Society of Canada.
In 1991-92, The Florida Pastel Association chose
McClelland's work to represent Canada in their International Exhibition
held at Searle & Kellogg Galleries, Art League of Manatee County,
Florida, and in 1993 at the Longboat Key Art Centre, Florida.
Jeanette is a founding member of the Federation
of Canadian Artists, Calgary Alberta Chapter (1980), and has been an
executive director who received service and painting awards. She has
been a member of the National - Vancouver B.C. Chapter for 20 years,
supporting and exhibiting. In 1991, she was appointed A.F.C.A Status
Member and was shown in the Annual A.F.C.A. show and the 50th
Anniversary Show.

Jeanette McClelland has been working as a
professional artist for 30 years. She has spent most of her life devoted
to her art, working prolifically in all mediums and subject matter, in
painting and teaching - sharing her exploration of artistic knowledge
with others. Jeanette's best known for her portraits, especially those
Honouring North American First Nations People.
Jeanette has been a participant in juried group
shows for 25 years, in some years in as many as 15 exhibitions and in at
least one auction. Many private and corporate collectors in Canada, the
United States and England have purchased her art through these
exhibitions, shows, sales and auctions. (Rick Hansen "Man in
Motion," auctions, Calgary Exhibition and Stampede Western Art
auctions.)
McClelland has had work in galleries in Toronto,
Edmonton, Red Deer, Calgary, Bragg Creek, Kelowna and Vancouver.
